Hi Everyone!. A few months ago I purchased the cutest sweater dress while walking randomly through Burlington Coat Factory. Now this a new thing for me since the only thing I like to buy from discounters are bags and shoes. I'm just one of those people who doesn't have the patience to flip through racks hoping to stumble across that great find. I want everything on the rack to be the same so that all I have to do is find my size and keep it moving. But this dress was calling my name and the price was right. After purchasing I had a little bit of buyers remorse. I wondered what I would wear it with or if I could even pull the look off. I'm not much for the clingyness of sweater dresses, being very self conscious about my figure and certain endowments. I played around with a few ideas and was thinking about wearing nice pair of cognac knee high boots, but the black faux leather buckle detail on the dress kept throwing me off. So for months the dress languished in my closet unworn until I saw how
Mimi G paired her winter white knit dress. So I woke up Thursday morning grabbed the dress, some black tights and debated whether to wear my black high heeled booties or a pair of knee high boots that happened to be lying on the floor near me. In the end I decided to go with the suede knee high boots just to have a little protection from our chilly NYC weather.
Dress: Calvin Klein, Boots: Aerosoles
I was pretty stoked with how the look came together and I received a lot of compliments at work. Despite the self conscious thought that everyone was looking at my butt (believe me this is all in my head, no one was paying me any mind and my company is 85% women) I made sure that my crazy thoughts didn't show in my demeanor. lolol. Since the only people who would see my ensemble would be my co-workers I made sure I carried the cuteness to my outerwear, wearing my new fav coat in a beautiful shade of cobalt blue with a yellow shawl/scarf.
Coat: Worthington JC Penney, Scarf/Shawl: JC Penney
My new obsession this winter is coats in bright colors. And this one makes me so happy.
I just bought a vibrant red wool pea coat that I can't wait to wear. Hopefully wearing these brighter colors will make winter feel a little less dreary.
Sigh, I need to learn to take better pictures. That's my homework for the weekend. Learning my camera. I had to crop out a lot of white space that can be better used for close ups. Oh well. lolol. I also plan on working on my equestrian jacket as well as finish up my skirts.
Until Later, Happy Sewing!!!
P.S. I still have to show off my jacket. I think I'll post a pic of that this weekend.
The sweater dress looks great on you and love the vibrant coat and scarf.
