Happy New Year Everyone!!! I just came off a nine day vacation that I had planned to fill with sewing and baking and any other type of creative activity I could think of but alas, none of those things happened. As I started working on a blazer with half a heart I realize what I really wanted to do with my time off is get some much needed rest. So that is what I did. I took care of a few chores like laundry and housecleaning, but other than that I stayed in PJ's, laid in bed, watched TV, or took a nap. I thought I'd feel guilty or like a slacker, but in my heart I knew I really needed that rest. There are two occassions when I don't sew, when I'm not in a sewing mood or when I'm tired. If I force myself to sew during those times I'm just asking to make annoying mistakes. So rest and relaxation it was. By the time New Year's came I was ready to be back to work.
I did plan some goals for myself for 2013. Not a long list, but I think a challenging one. I want to teach myself at least two new sewing techniques, make a coat, perfect the techniques I've already learned, and make a tailored jacket. A true tailored jacket. Those are my sewing goals for 2013. I think they're doable and not all that overwhelming. So now that I'm rested I'm dubbing this year as the year I challenge myself. let's just hope I stick to my resolution. lolol
Until Later, Happy Sewing!!!!
I'm glad that you recognized your need to just rest. That's an awesome way to finish an old year and start a new one.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with completing your sewing goals for this new year - they definitely seem doable goals!
